Smelly Cat

We have been reduced to finding humor in bodily functions. Having a baby makes taboo conversation topics—pooping, vomiting, burping—a part of everyday conversation. It’s a strange phenomenon, but one that certainly has its comical moments.

Cate made a poop the other day that scared our cat, Lily. Yes, you read the sentence correctly. It was hilarious. Nate was sitting in his office working on the computer, I was sitting in the living room on my laptop, and Cate was playing on the floor. Lily, our giant ball of fur was stretch out over the top of our overstuffed chair. All was nice and serene. Then, out of nowhere, Cate broke wind at a rather surprising volume, and Nate and I both looked up from what we were doing to see Lily poised in “attack mode” on the back of the chair he had been laying on. We’re easily amused around here, and died laughing. Lily, of course, looked monumentally offended that we found the whole thing so funny.

So I know that “Smelly Cat” isn’t quite the right title for this post—it should be “Smelly Cate.” Ah, the joys of parenthood.
