Sunday, Bloody Sunday

It is a lazy Sunday afternoon…except that we are anything but lazy. I am enjoying a brief lazy moment while writing this post, but all in all, it’s been pretty busy around here. Why? Our little Cate is due in less than a month! Twenty-nine days, to be exact. That is, if she’s not early. And, being our daughter, that’s not out of the realm of possibility. Despite the fact that she doesn’t have our genetic material, I like to think she’s still inheriting our quirky character traits.

So it’s Sunday, and we’re painting. My husband decided to put a great deal of his creative energy into painting Cate’s wall, and it looks fantastic. Hopefully, I’ll be able to upload a picture when it’s all done. He painted a series of light pick, blue, and brown bubbles that will be somewhat-hidden behind three Dick and Jane pictures that we had framed (actually, the Dick and Jane pictures are large pages from one of the original books, published in 1951). It looks awesome. I have such a talented husband!

We are still adjusting to the realization that we are soon going to be parents. Of course, the adjusting is in the midst of a tremendous amount of excitement. God is so good! We have been praying for our little girl often, and decorating her room as been helping us prepare our hearts for the love we will be showering on her when she arrives.

For us, one of the more challenging aspects of preparing for a baby has been deciding what she will listen to. Being the music enthusiasts that we are (“enthusiast” being a bit of an understatement), we are hoping to avoid the typical baby repertoire of music—“I Love You, You Love Me,” “Twinkle, Twinkle,” etc. So, in trying to figure out what Cate will be listening to, Nate stumbled upon a band that does lullaby covers of Coldplay, Radiohead, U2 (hence, the title of this post), Led Zepplin, Beatles, and a few other bands. What an idea! So, we are now the proud owners of a number of these albums, and we imagine Cate will love them.
